How Do Blogs Work?
Follow the experiences of our student bloggers throughout the year by subscribing to their blogs. By doing so, you can have their new entries sent directly to your computer as soon as they are posted!  Blogs work using a networking technology called an RSS feed (Really Simple Syndication).  RSS provides an easy way to get the information you want from a website whenever it is updated, even if you are not on the website, or even on your computer, at the time new posts are added!

RSS Feed Aggregators and Readers
There are several ways to automate access and RSS feeds. The most common way is to download and install an RSS Feed Aggregator (sometimes called an RSS Reader) that displays RSS feeds from the websites you select.  Some RSS Aggregators run as separate programs on your computer, while others can be installed into web browsers (like Internet Explorer and Firefox).  These programs serve as information portals and provide a real-time interface to the feeds you select.  A number of free RSS Aggregators are available for download. These include Pluck, RSS Bandit, Feed Demon, and Bloglines.
