Procedures for Health Sciences Center Majors

The Health Science Center (HSC) at Stony Brook offers the following undergraduate majors:

Freshman applicants interested in any HSC majors initially enter Stony Brook within the College of Arts & Sciences. After completing or anticipating completion of all prerequisite courses, students file an HSC application to be considered for admission to the particular HSC major of interest.*

Transfer applicants with all prerequisites met must apply directly to the major of interest via. the Health Sciences Center Office of Student Services, with the exception of those seeking entry to the Health Science, BS major (applicants for this program apply using the SUNY Application through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions).

Transfer applicants without the prerequisites required for direct admission to an HSC major should complete the SUNY application, entering the curriculum code for a major in the College of Arts and Sciences (transfer students with more than 56 college credits must have a declared major to be eligible for Financial Aid). After completing or anticipating completion of all prerequisite courses, students file an HSC application to be considered for admission to the major of interest.*

* No separate application is needed for entry to the Health Science, BS major. Students can declare this major as early as their freshman year, and transition from the College of Arts & Sciences to the School of Health Technology and Management (within HSC) in the fall semester of their senior year.
