Applying to Health Sciences Center Programs

The Health Sciences Center (HSC) at Stony Brook offers the following undergraduate majors:

The following are upper-division majors at Stony Brook University, requiring at least 57 credits and specific prerequisites:

Freshman applicants interested in any of these three majors will initially enter Stony Brook within the College of Arts & Sciences. After completing or anticipating completion of all prerequisite courses, students must file an HSC application to be considered for admission to the particular HSC major of interest.

Transfer applicants with all prerequisites met must apply directly to the major of interest through the Health Sciences Center Office of Student Services. Do not file an application through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Transfer applicants who have not yet completed the prerequisites for the upper-division health science program in which they are interested should attend an information session for that program. When you attend an information session, you will learn about the admissions requirements for the program, including specific courses prerequisites, minimum g.p.a., and related health care experience. You will also learn about the application deadline and start date. When possible, it is advisable to complete any specific course prerequisites you still need at your current institution. Visit our Transfer Office Web site for information about transfer course equivalencies. To learn more about the prerequisites for Stony Brook's upper-division health science programs, read Stony Brook's Health Sciences Degree Programs for Undergraduatespdf.
