Meet the 2010-2011 ACH Fellows

Allegra de LaurentiisChris Weber

  • Hey everyone, I'm Chris Weber and I come from the Hudson Valley here in NY (New Paltz to be exact). I'm attending Stony Brook as a Computer Science major, but academics are just a piece of the pie that Stony Brook has to offer. So when I'm not in class I enjoy hanging out with friends, meeting new people, playing games, giving you a run for your money in almost any sport you throw at me, and representing the greatest Undergraduate College on campus...ACH! Everyone's got their own reasons why, but I believe the best part of being affiliated with Arts, Culture, and Humanities is that you can be and express who you are and not feel pressured to change one bit. That being said, ACH will somehow still manage to change you...but only for the better!

Allegra de LaurentiisTatiana Pawelec

  • Hi, I'm Tatiana! Welcome to Stony Brook!!! After wanting to do every other possible thing on Earth, from archeology to zoology, I've finally found my true love...English. ACH has become my home, and I never want to leave! I think that the best thing about ACH is the music that you hear anywhere you are in Tabler Quad (and I am definitely not musically inclined, but I absolutely love it). I am a person of many interests (hence the major indecisiveness in my career path), I love books, walks, a good work out, movies (of all kinds), etc, etc, etc. I do my best to be very nice and approachable. Nothing surprises me, so don't feel weird about talking to me. Have a great fall semester, and I'll be seeing you!

Allegra de LaurentiisYiying Zhu

  • Hello, guess what??? I am your College Fellow! My name is Yiying Zhu. I am a Business major and media arts minor here at Stony Brook. I am from Beijing, China and have been in the U.S. for 7 years now. My hobbies include editing and watching film. I am going to be spending this summer in China, but I am looking forward to meet each one of you when I come back. See you soon!

Allegra de LaurentiisColette Vaughan

  • Hey, I'm Colette! I'm a Psychology (B.A) major here at SBU and I'm completing a minor in dance. I'm obviously an ACH Fellow, but I'm also going to be an Orientation Leader over the summer, which I'm super excited about! My main interest is dancing. Next year I'm going to be the president of the Stony Brook Ballroom Dance Team - it's something that I'm really passionate about. I'm really excited to meet all the incoming freshmen, especially the one's in ACH! My favorite thing about ACH is the fact that we're such a diverse group of people and I've had so much fun with all the ACH Fellows! Can't wait to see you all!

Allegra de LaurentiisBrenton Murphy

  • Hello! My name is Brenton Murphy and I'm going to be an Undergraduate Fellow for Arts, Culture, and Humanities for the 2010-11 school year. I'm from Keeseville, New York (which is a 7 hour drive away from Stony Brook). I'm going to SBU to either follow the pre-med track or be in the Education program. As far a major goes, I keep jumping between Biology and Chemistry trying to figure out which one interests me more. I'm also planning on minoring in Adapted Aquatics because it'll give me experience working with children, if I choose education as a career, yet it's good experience for Health Sciences should I opt for pre-med. During the school year I keep my life fairly simple. I enjoy going to West Meadow Beach to relax or going to open swim in the Sports Complex. At night I like to settle down in the Recreation Room and play a few games of pool or a few intense rounds of Taboo. As for being in ACH, my favorite part is the people. Everyone has a different talent and everyone is unique. It's extremely easy to become friends with other students in ACH. I hope to see you at Orientation or around campus next Fall, and congratulations on becoming a Seawolf!!

Allegra de LaurentiisSaira Afzal

  • My name is Saira and I'm from a small town in upstate New York (upstate love!). At the moment I'm thinking about majoring in Journalism with a minor in Political Science, but I'm not completely set on anything just yet. I enjoy spending time with my friends, watching movies and certain TV shows (30 Rock!), reading and traveling. Out of all the different Undergraduate Colleges, I really came to love ACH because, in my opinion, it has the most diverse group of people. There isn't one typical ACHer but instead anyone and everyone can feel at home here. So welcome home!

Allegra de LaurentiisMatt Baumback

  • My name is Matt Baumback. I am from Upstate New York near the Capital District. I am currently a Journalism major/Music minor at Stony Brook. My hobbies include playing the guitar and working out at the gym. What I like most about ACH is the strength of our community and the pride of our residents. I will also be a TA for the Tuesday night ACH 101 class, so I hope to see some of you in that section!

Allegra de LaurentiisChristina Koryluk

  • Hey guys, I'm Christina and I'm from Hicksville, New York here on Long Island. I'm a Psychology major here at Stony Brook, and I love to dance and listen to music. I also really love helping my friends by working out their problems with them (hence my major, I guess). I love enjoying life as it comes at me. I really love ACH because it's a place where everyone seems to connect with one another and can express their individuality while having a good time I'm so excited to meet all of you! =)

Allegra de LaurentiisAlexa Grosskreuz

  • Hi Everyone! My name's Alexa Grosskreuz and I'm From Nassau County here on Long Island. I'm currently a History Major working towards becoming a teacher. I'm a HUGE fan of the New York Yankees (and Derek Jeter in particular). I love to sing...I'll sing anywhere and everywhere (my suitemates have learned this the hard way). I also really enjoy reading, shopping, and grabbing coffee with friends in my spare time. What do I love most about ACH? Easy question to answer...THE PEOPLE. I love my "fellow Fellows" and the awesome ACH Staff. Tabler Love!

Allegra de LaurentiisRob Drago

  • Hey guys and girls!! I'm Rob Drago from BROOKLYN! I'm a Political Science major on track to become a High School History Teacher. I go outside whenever it is at all possible and play volleyball or football with my friends, or just spend some time at the beach (Yankee and Giant fan, by the way). ACH students, like myself, are the best of the best, the cream of the crop, and the cherry on top here at Stony Brook. The events that phappen through ACH are always tons of fun and happen year-round. But above all, the amount of energy and talent that emanates from ACH students and Tabler quad is unrivaled, and like nothing I have ever experienced before, making my time here at Stony Brook, by far, some of the best times in my life! Go Seawolves!!!
