Upcoming Lecture: The Best Paid Hobby: A Physician's Perspective
Speaker: Joshua Moskovitz, MD, MPH

Time: 4pm
Dr. Joshua Moskovitz, an emergency medicine physician, an alumnus of Stony Brook, and former leading light of SBVAC returns to campus on September 11.
The schedule of Dr. Moskovitz will be quite busy on Thursday, September 11, but he specifically asked that time be set aside so that he could talk to you about what the world of medicine is really like.
For anyone who is thinking of becoming a doctor, this event is not to be missed!

The Division of Student Life has a Listserv that is used to inform Stony Brook students about what is happening on campus. Susan DiMonda, Associate Dean and Director of Student Life sends out weekly announcements about events, leadership opportunities, free tickets to events, etc.

Waitlist Deadline,Sept. 8
Last day students can place themselves on a waitlisted course. Reminder: Students, who place themselves on a waitlist and change their intent to register, MUST DROP themselves from the Waitlist. If students are registered from the waitlist, students are responsible for any Tuition Liability incurred.
Drop, Withdraw (Without Tuition Liability), Sept. 8
Last day to drop a class or withdraw from the university without tuition liability. Service offices are closed on weekends. Dropping individual courses must be done via Solar System; students withdrawing from the university or taking a leave of absence must submit a Withdrawal/LOA Request Form to the Registrar’s Office (form may be faxed or mailed). Withdrawals/LOA’s will be processed based on date fax received or based on the postmarked date. Date must be PRIOR to the 9/08/08 deadline to avoid tuition liability. The Career Center is launching their first ever Mock Job Fair on Friday, September 19. This event will allow students to practice what to say at a job fair. Employers will be on hand to coach students and offer advice. Students from all majors and classes are welcome!

ANNUAL CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Planning Committee for the 2008 Student-Faculty-Staff Retreat is accepting applications from Stony Brook University students who would like to be considered for participation in this year’s event.

The Student Faculty Staff Retreat is an annual Stony Brook tradition, now in it's twenty-fourth, year where students, professors and administrators are invited to participate together as a “think-tank” to better understand, continue to improve and shape the future of our institution. This year's retreat theme is Enhancing Student Engagement in Undergraduate Educationand will be held Friday, November 7, 2008 - Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Glen Cove Mansion.
