Manuel London is Associate Dean of the College of Business and Director of the College’s Center for Human Resources Management, which conducts research and offers a graduate program in personnel administration and employee relations. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Psychology. He received his Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in industrial and organizational psychology. He then taught at the University of Illinois at Champaign before moving to AT&T as a researcher and human resource manager. He joined Stony Brook 17 years ago. His research and writing are in the areas of leadership and career development, performance management, and organization change. His recent books include Leadership Development: Paths to Self-Insight and Professional Growth (2002) and Continuous Learning in Organizations (2006). He is currently writing a book on leading small groups. Manny's dedication to service is illustrated on campus through such events as chairing Stony Brook's Year of Community Service and the Student/Faculty/Staff Retreat on Giving . As Faculty Director of the Leadership and Service Undergraduate College, he hopes to involve students in a host of leadership development and community service areas. Leaders envision what can be, generate commitment, and make things happen, and students learn about leadership through community service. Strong leadership skills will increase students' opportunities no matter what career they choose.

Originally from Buffalo, NY, Melitta attended the University at Buffalo for both her Undergraduate and Graduate degrees. She received a B.A. in Environmental Design and an M.Ed in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs. As a recent graduate from SUNY Buffalo, Melitta is new to Stony Brook and is excited to be here. She is one of two advisors for the Undergraduate College for Leadership and Service and welcomes all opportunities to work with LDS students. She also looks forward to being an active participant in the academic and social success of first year students.

 

 

Candace O'NeillCandace O'Neill

Originally from San Diego, CA, Candace is a New York State certified teacher with a strong passion for learning as well as teaching. She attended SUNY Cortland for her undergraduate degree where she worked as an RA for three years. Candace’s most rewarding experience during her undergraduate career was studying abroad in London, England. There, she taught 5th and 6th grade while taking classes at University of North London. She graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in English.

Candace taught 9th grade Inclusion for one year, before teaching K-6th grade Multi-Sensory Reading for 4 years. Candace earned her M.A. in Integrated Education through the School of Professional Development at Stony Brook University. She is excited to be back on campus as an Undergraduate College Advisor for the College of Leadership and Service. Candace is personally and professionally devoted to helping make the first year at Stony Brook a positive and fulfilling experience for all LDS students.

 

Jonathan RagoneQuad Director

Jonathan Ragone is a native Long Islander from Massapequa who has been at Stony Brook University since 1998. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University. Jonathan has worked for the Division of Campus Residences since the Fall of 2001 when he became a Resident Assistant. In addition, he has been an Assistant Hall Director, Quad Assistant, Graduate Assistant for Undergraduate Colleges and Residence Hall Director encompassing the last 5 years. He is passionate about community service and leadership opportunities for students and has was been involved in Student Staff Recruitment and Selection for the last 4 years. Now, Jonathan is the chair of the Leadership Development Committee and works with both the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH).
