Mentorship Panel
Date: Monday, October 1
Time: 2-4pm
Location: 306 SAC
Description: The mentorship panel will consist of a variety of organizations who will describe mentorship and service learning opportunities that are available in the Stony Brook and Long Island communities.  We are suggesting that students who attend the panel bring a small donation (crayons, chalk, markers, games, scissors, etc.) to be donated to children through within local mentoring organizations.

Habitat for Humanity (FULL)
Date: Tuesday, October 2
Time: 9am-3pm (or 9-12, 1-3)
Location: TBA
Description: LDS students will participate in building a two story home for the Hayes Family of Long Island. This program is an all day event, however, if you have a class during the designated time we are sectioning the day into sessions; 9am-12pm and 1pm-3pm. If you attend the morning session, check-in is at 8:30am. If you attend the afternoon session check-in is at 12:30pm. On-campus pick-up location TBA. This event is full!

Care Packages (FULL)
Date: Tuesday, October 2
Time: 6-8pm
Location: Benedict Lounge (H-Quad)
Description: Students will listen to a SAFE presentation, which is presented by fellow Stony Brook students on Sexual Assault Facts and Education. Students will then put together care packages for women at a local battered women’s shelter.  Materials will be provided, but students are also encouraged to bring additional materials to donate (ex. toothbrushes, socks, etc.). This event is full!

Food Drive
Date: Wednesday, October 3
Time: 12:00am-2:00pm
Location: Academic Mall
Description: Students will donate nonperishable items such as soup, tuna fish, canned vegetables, beans, pasta sauce, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, jelly, rice, chili, baby food, and canned fruit to support the Port Jefferson Food Pantry. Students will then participate in a fun and informative activity related to poverty.

Hunger Banquet
Date: Wednesday, October 3
Time: 7-9pm
Location: Benedict Atrium (H-Quad)
Description: Students will listen to a fascinating presentation on Oxfam America, Fair Trade and Nicaragua.  After the presentation, students will participate in a hunger banquet to illustrate the inequalities of poverty in the world.

Campus Clean-Up (Newly Added!)
Date: Thursday, October 4
Time: 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm
Location: Administration Loop (near the Staller)
Description: Students will participate in Stony Brook's annual Fall Pride Patrol, in which we help beautify the campus. There are two opportunities to participate in this event. One is from 10:00am-12:00pm and the other is 1:00pm-3:00pm. If you attend the morning session, check-in is at 9:30am. If you attend the afternoon session check-in is at 12:30pm, both at the Administration Loop.

Light the Night Walk
Date: Thursday, October 4
Time: 5pm-8:30pm
Location: Eisenhower Park, East Meadow
Description:  Students will participate in a 2 mile walk for persons with Leukemia & Lymphoma.  The walk starts at 7:00pm; students are to board the bus at 5pm (on-campus location to be announced).  After the completion of the walk, students will re-board the bus and return to Stony Brook by 8:30pm.  In addition, students who participate in this event should wear their LDS t-shirts.

Beach Clean-up
Date: Friday, October 5
Time: 12pm-3pm
Location: Cedar Beach
Description: Students will assist in beautifying long island beaches by cleaning Cedar Beach.  Students will board the bus to Cedar Beach at 12pm (on-campus location TBA).  The beach clean up begins at 12:30pm and ends at 2:30pm; students are expected to return to Stony Brook at 3pm.  (See hand-out for more info).

Adopt-A-Highway
Date: Saturday, October 6
Time: 11am-1pm
Location: Meet at South P parking lot
Description: This is a great opportunity for LDS students to keep our community clean.  Students will be provided with cleaning supplies and we will spend part of the day beautifying portions of Stony Brook Road.   (See hand-out for more info).
