The College seeks to infuse students with a sense of wonder as they discover the power of information and technology and consider their own role in shaping the future. Last day for P/NC or withdrawal
Stony Brook permits students to pass/no credit (P/NC) or withdraw from courses under specific circumstances which are noted in the Undergraduate Bulletin. Full-time students can P/NC up to 8 credits per term; part-time students can P/NC up to 4 credits per term. Students can withdraw from classes and receive a W on their transcript, but full-time students must maintain at least 12 credits.  Students who are retaking a course are not permitted to select the P/NC option for that course.  For the fall term, students must P/NC or withdraw from courses via SOLAR or in person at the Registrar’s Office by 4 p.m. on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29.  Please use caution in selecting these options as they are not reversible.  After selecting the P/NC or withdrawal option, PRINT the list of fall courses (which includes the grading option) to verify the choice was recorded accurately.  For more information on either option, students should speak with their academic advisor.
