Who's Who
Faculty
Director
Paul M Bingham
Paul.Bingham@stonybrook.edu
Prof. Bingham has been on the faculty of the Department of Biochemistry and Cell
Biology in the School of Medicine at Stony Brook for the last two decades. He
has a longstanding commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. Prof.
Bingham received his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard.
His research interests are broad – including basic molecular mechanisms
in cellular and developmental processes, the cell biology of cancer and the evolutionary
biology of humans. This last research interest is especially important to the
College of Human Development . Our understanding of the biological origins of
humans and human behavior has grown explosively over the last decade. This increased
understanding gives us powerful new insights into human behavior and human history.
As a result, we now also possess a vastly improved understanding of the coherence
of the entire human knowledge enterprise – the sciences, humanities and
social sciences. Learning to navigate, contribute to and use this knowledge enterprise
is the goal of your undergraduate education at Stony Brook.
The Faculty Director's office will assist you throughout your career at Stony Brook in discovering the immense, diverse resources this major American research university has to offer.
