How to Prepare for an Appointment

You should meet with your college advisor early and often to discuss your academic goals – not only before registration, but throughout the year. Follow these helpful tips to make sure your appointment is efficient and productive.
  • Think ahead! What would you like to discuss with your college advisor? Write down your questions and bring them with you.
  • Do some research – review the requirements for your major or area of interest in the Bulletin. Check the online Bulletin for the most up-to-date information.
  • Review your Degree Progress Report and DEC Requirement Sheet to keep track of your academic progress.
  • Print and complete the Advising Appointment Form. Write down any specific questions you have for your advisor. Bring this with you to your appointment.
