Learning Objectives:

  • Students will be able to understand respect as a foundation of academic and civil discourse.
  • Students will be able to understand the key elements of civil discourse.
  • Students will be able to understand the difference between civil and uncivil discourses and identify verbal and non-verbal cues of each.

Campus Culture

Learning Objectives:

  • Students will be able to discover the opportunities and the responsibilities of studying at a Research University.
  • Students will be able to use the textbook and university website as a navigational tool.
  • Students will be able to increase their awareness of the involvement opportunities at Stony Brook.
  • Students will be able to understand the advantages of campus involvement.
