Brian Colle, Ph.D.

Brian Colle is a Professor of Atmospheric Science in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) at Stony Brook University. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington in 1994 and 1997, respectively. Since 1999, his research at SoMAS has focused on investigating the meteorology around the coastal margins of North America, improving the numerical model forecasts in these regions, and integrating atmospheric model data into numerous interdisciplinary research activities (wind power, storm surge, regional climate, etc).
Dr. Colle serves as Co-Editor for the American Meteorological Society Journal "Weather and Forecasting." At SoMAS, Dr. Colle is the undergraduate coordinator and advisor for the Atmospheric and Oceanic B.S. degree program. From 2006-2008, he served as chair of the Undergraduate Council, a standing committee of the Stony Brook University Senate, and he has also served on several committees related to undergraduate general education at Stony Brook. David Maynard, Ph.D.

Dave Maynard has taught and advised first year and high achieving students at Stony Brook since 2001. He earned his doctorate in Anthropology from CUNY in 1992. His teaching and research interests include globalization, social movements, and the mediascape. Dr. Maynard received a "Faculty Mentor of the Year Award" in 2010 from the Compact for Faculty Diversity Institute on Teaching and Mentoring. Dr. Maynard served as the Faculty Director of the University Scholars Program from Fall 2008 to Spring 2011, and he is delighted to continue his work with University Scholars students.

Jessica Klare

Jessica Klare was born and raised in Southeastern Massachusetts. She attended Boston University and received both a B.A, in International Relations and an M.Edin Higher Education with a concentration in Policy, Planning, and Administration. In September of 2006, Jessica moved to Long Island where she worked as Associate Director of Graduate Admissions and Processing at Adelphi University. Jessica joined the Stony Brook community in January of 2008 and currently works with University Scholars, Liv- ing Learning Centers and URECA. She thoroughly enjoys working with the students in these programs and encourages them to come in and visit if they have any questions or just want to talk.

Allison Aldrich

Allison is a Rhode Island native and came to Stony Brook University in 2009 initially in pursuit of academic study. She received her bachelor’s in music performance from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, in Connecti- cut. She received her master’s in music performance from Stony Brook University in May 2011. Prior to becoming the Staff Assistant, Allison was the graduate assistant for the Honors College while pursuing her graduate studies here. While Allison considers herself a clarinetist primarily, she has taken a strong liking to working in higher educa- tion. She thoroughly enjoys working with the students in the Honors College as well as the University Scholars pro- gram. She looks forward to getting to know the students in the Honors College more and is always open for sugges- tions regarding future event programming in the Honors College.

Jeff Barnett is a long time member and proud alum of the Stony Brook community. After having completed his B.S. in psychology from Stony Brook University, Jeff went on to hold several positions at the university in Student Affairs, Enrollment & Retention Management and the Undergraduate Colleges. Jeff earned his graduate degree in Higher & Post-Secondary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
His professional background reaches across both Student & Academic Affairs and includes experience with academic and organization advising, orientation, first year student issues, large scale programming, student learning outcomes assessment, learning communities programs, student success initiatives, building a sense of campus community. Jeff is committed to students and to building collaborative partnerships between student and academic affairs. He has published and presented at national & regional conferences on a variety of these topics and has received departmental Distinguished Service Awards in the areas of Student Development and Systems Innovations, Research & Assessment for his work.
