"Wanting to stay on Long Island for my college education, choosing Stony Brook University was not very difficult. My choice was made even easier once I was introduced to the opportunities the Honors College presented. I was excited to have the opportunity to be a part of a small college inside of a large University and study a unique and rigorous curriculum. At this time I was unaware of how much of an impact the Honors College would have on my Stony Brook experience, and how enjoyable the experience would be. From the start, I realized that being in the Honors College meant being part of a something very special. The seminar classes and mini courses have provided a look at many different topics that I would have never seen in my normal course work. The Honors College course work is challenging, unique, exciting, and provides you with the opportunity to stay connected with your Honors College family. The relationships I have formed through the Honors College will last me a lifetime. Not only will you make friends with many similar interests, the professors you will meet will guide you on your way to success at the collegiate level and beyond. The Honors College provides the stepping-stone for unique and unforgettable experiences at Stony Brook University and beyond. Every opportunity that has presented itself to me at Stony Brook University has been because of the Honors College and I know I will never forget this experience."

"When I applied to schools, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue. I visited school after school and arrived at the University I grew up with, 10 minutes from my house. The Honors College promised guidance, and it definitely delivered. My advisor encouraged me to pursue things that I was interested in and when I stumbled upon areas I was curious about, they shared my excitement. When I decided to study abroad in Tanzania, my advisor wanted to see pictures. And when I wanted to go away again to the Canary Islands, we made it work. Stony Brook has turned out to be an amazing place to discover my interests and being involved in the community that is the Honors College is a huge part of the experience."
