A small number of students from Stony Brook may be accepted for transfer into the Honors College at the completion of their first year at Stony Brook. The number of students varies from year to year depending upon a number of factors. The Honors College curriculum has been designed as a cohesive four year course of study, and therefore students will not be accepted after sophomore year. Minimum transfer criteria include a GPA of 3.5 or higher in a rigorous and well-rounded academic program. It is also important to have contributed to one's community both inside and outside of the classroom. We seek students who have demonstrated vigor and leadership in their extracurricular involvement. If you are interested in applying to the Honors College as a transfer student, you must complete an application, two essays, and two instructor evaluations. All materials must be returned to the Honors College by May 1.
