Graduate student (Ph.D.) - I got married and completed an MA in History in 2000, and a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies in 2001. I am currently finishing my Ph.D dissertation, which deals with the history of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I am also

working on publishing my writing, and on teaching my own courses at the university.

Justin Holmer
Graduate Student (Ph.D.) - Currently completing my Ph.D. in math at University of Chicago . Will be going this summer (2004) to U.C. Berkeley for a three-year postdoctoral position. Happily married since 1998.

Lab Specialist - I married Christine Cucciniello (USB alum) on June 27th, 2003. I received my Master's degree in Marine environmental science in May 2003. I participated in a 2 week research cruise long lining for swordfish, North of Hawaii.

Teacher - I teach 8th grade math in Carlisle , PA. I was married in August 2003 to Assaf Zilbering.

Phoebe Lu Student
MD/PhD Student - I am currently a 6th year MD/PhD student at the NYU School of Medicine and I am working in a lab in the Department of Cell Biology. I got married recently to Alan Legasto, a radiology resident at Long Island College Hospital .

Viktoriya Paroder
MD/PhD Student - I got married and have a beautiful baby girl, Samantha, who just turned one. I received my M.S. in Molecular Pharmacology and am completing my thesis work in the area of Iodide Transport Regulation in the Thyroid Gland.

Amy Parvaneh
Financial Analyst - Since graduation, Amy has worked as a financial analyst at Salomon Smith Barney's Investment Banking Division and is now working as a research assistant at Bear Stearn's Equity Research department. She is also running her own part-time real estate business in New York City . Currently, Amy is in the process of applying for a top business school. What class???

Alpa Patel-Larson
Epidemiologist/Anthropologist (Health Scientist) - I married Kenneth Larson (Stony Brook '97) on 01/01/01. We have a 3-year-old terrier mix named Buddy. After graduation, we moved to Tampa , FL for graduate studies at the University of South Florida . We moved to Atlanta in August 2001. I like to spend time with friends, cross-stitch, read, travel, and plan outdoor activities. I attended USF to pursue my MA in Applied Anthropology. Midway through the masters' program, a dual program was approved through the College of Public Health . I graduated with my MPH in Epidemiology in August 2003, and plan to graduate in December 2003 with the MA (once I complete the thesis!). I interned with the Centers for Disease Control for three months in the Division of Reproductive Health, and will be finishing a two-year fellowship in the Office on Smoking and Health. Most of my professional interests have focused on health-related disparities caused by sociocultural and behavioral issues.

PhD Candidate - I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Microbiology at SUNY Stony Brook. I received the Mary Finkelstein Award for a Poster Research presentation at the American Society of Microbiology Meeting in Orlando , Florida .

Peter J. Staritz
Robotics Engineer - My wife, Amy, and I recently celebrated our 3rd anniversary and our daughter, Natalie, was born in March of this year. We recently moved to Maryland where I have started a new job. We're looking for a house and a church and getting used to our new environment. After graduating from Stony Brook I moved to Pittsburgh to study Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University . I recieved my Ph.D. in Robotics in May of 2003 and have take a job at General Dynamics Robotics Systems in Maryland . I now work on unmanned aerial vehicles for national defense.
