A Personal Message from Artistic Director Christine Goerke

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the newly renovated Avram Theater at Stony Brook Southampton! We are very proud to present to you our second season of Music at Southampton with our 2008 series Sustainable Treasures.

We invite you to start your long summer weekends with us on Thursday evenings. Arrive early and picnic, and after the performance stay and meet the artists at festive receptions.

Last season we asked what kind of music you would like to hear. We tallied the votes and this season—as per your requests—we are happy to present eight exciting evenings of classical, jazz, and cabaret. You’ll hear dazzling divas and divos of opera, American and Broadway songs performed by two great cabaret artists, and jazz musicians who are so cool, you’ll be grateful for the summer evening’s heat.

You will be enthralled by measures upon measures of musical treasures. We offer you the magic, the mystery, the miracle of music and song in a beautiful, intimate theater by performers who are committed to their art and to you, their audience.
