Campus Sustainability & Food Days 2013 Are Here!

On Wednesday, October 23 and Thursday, October 24, Stony Brook University will celebrate Campus Sustainability Day and Food Day, which in 2013 is now a two day back-to-back event. Campus Sustainability Day is a national event organized with the assistance of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and takes place on College/University campuses throughout the United States. Campus Sustainability Day is in its 11th year and serves to celebrate sustainability, with the purpose of recognizing the successes, challenges and innovation of sustainability in higher education. This year the Office of Sustainability, Sustainability Studies academic program and Campus Dining Services will host a multi-day event in order to celebrate Campus Sustainability and Food Day according to the following schedule:
Wednesday, October 23, 2013: 12pm to 2pm
Program: Office of Sustainability Display
Location: Engineering Drive Circle (Near the back of the Student Activities Center)
Thursday, October 24, 2013: 12pm to 2pm
Program: Office of Sustainability & Campus Dining Services Food Day Display
Location: Academic Mall
On both days, students, faculty/staff and visitors will have the ability to visit the Office of Sustainability’s display, meet EcoLeaders, test their knowledge of sustainability initiatives and win prizes, including reusable bottles, mugs and small pumpkins. In addition, the Sustainability Studies program in collaboration with the Environmental Club, will host a free film screening of the documentary “Brunswick” by Nate Simms, starting at 7:30pm in Frey Hall, Room 105. The filmmaker Nate Simms will also be in attendance and hold a discussion with a question and answer session. Come out and join us to celebrate Campus Sustainability and Food Day!
