SBU Replaces trees lost during Hurricane Irene
February 22, 2012
Stony Brook University replaced 24 trees lost during hurricane Irene. The Campus Operations & Maintenance Department understood that replacing the trees would not only sustain the beauty of the campus, but the natural ecological balance as well. After the storm, the University applied for and received a FEMA grant enabling the replacement of the 24 trees that were lost around campus. Trees have a vast impact on our environment. They harbor wildlife, improve air quality and provide serene. For more information on this Sustainability Story, please contact the Stony Brook University Office of Sustainability.
