Solar Panels RSS Building
Stony Brook's new Research & Development Park is truly living up to its name. As part of a research initiative with National Grid Energy Services, there is a 10 kW thin film solar photovoltaic system on the roof of the RSS Building. The system is comprised of 240 thin-film solar PV modules designed and manufactured by EPV Solar. While many factors affect the output of the system, a 10 kW system can typically put out about 12,000 kWh of energy per year. This would save about $2,100 per year and avoid over 17,000 kg of CO2.
