The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation at Stony Brook University,
lead institution for the Alliance, is a National Science Foundation funded
program that has the goal of increasing the number of underrepresented
minority students who receive bachelor degrees in science, technology,
engineering and mathematics. Our students have gone on to achieve engineering
and research positions in industry at companies such as Symbol Technology,
Pratt and Whitney, Mitre Corporation, Computer Associates, Pfizer, Paine
Weber, Verizon, and Morgan Stanley. Our students who have chosen to go
to graduate school are scattered across the country and studying at other
top schools such as Cornell, Harvard, California Institute of Technology,
Columbia, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Our guiding philosophy is to help our students achieve their goals.
