How
To Use The SOLAR System (Student Online Access to Records)

Brooks online student registration system is called
the SOLAR System. Students use it to enroll in and pay for
classes, as well as to access course descriptions, their
class schedules, and grades at the end of the session. Students
must have a Stony Brook ID number in order to use the SOLAR
System for all registration-related transactions, although
prospective students may access the system as a Guest to
search for a class or a course description. Instructions
follow.

or view your grades at the end of the summer, you must have
a Stony Brook ID number. If you are a visiting student new
to Stony Brook this number will be emailed to you one time
only after you have submitted a visiting student application.
Be sure to keep a record of this number (as well as your

strictly confidential and, by law, cannot be emailed to
you again or given out over the telephone.
If
you forget or lose your Stony Brook ID number, you must
come in person to the Registrars/Summer Session Office,

How
to Register on the SOLAR System
To
log into the SOLAR System as a student you need a password
as well as an ID number. Your initial password will be your
date of birth in the following format: MM/DD/YY.
The system will then prompt you to choose a permanent password
. Please remember your password because, like your ID number,
you will need it to enroll in and pay for classes, view
your class schedule and class location(s), and access your
grades at the end of the summer. If you forget your password,
scroll down and click on Forgot Your Password and
follow the directions to choose a new one.
Once you have logged onto the SOLAR System, you will notice
the menu options on the left side of the screen. Click link
Enroll, Add, Drop Swap, P/NC. Select appropriate
term to view or to modify:Summer (appropriate year). If
you have already enrolled, your class schedule will appear.
If you have not enrolled previously, no class schedule will
appear. Clink link Add Classes (to add
a course). This option, along with others are displayed
at the bottom of the page.
- In
the Class Nbr. field, type the class number (not the course
and section numbers: e.g., 61267, not MAT 123.01). Alternatively
you may click on the magnify glass to search for a class.
Some classes with labs and/or recitation sections will require
that you type in additional class numbers. For these types
of enrollment both class numbers will need to be entered
in the same request. You can input up to six class numbers
on this one page. To add another class, click on Add
Another Class and proceed. When you have finished selecting
your classes, click Submit. If you encounter errors,
click "Errors found" to view the details of the
error.
- To
view your schedule, click the"View My Schedule"
link at the bottom of the page.
If you encounter errors, click View Error Details
for more information.
To
view your class schedule, click View Updated Schedule
and print your schedule.
