| A Message from the Dean |
|
Once considered an educational frill, an international experience has become a necessity in today’s global community. As a result, graduate and professional schools, as well as employers, now prefer students who have studied abroad. Students can take advantage of exciting international opportunities in either of two ways: as individual participants in International Exchanges at overseas partner universities, or as members of Study Abroad Programs under the supervision of a Stony Brook faculty member. Students participating in International Exchanges at partner universities are exposed to a variety of languages. Study Abroad Programs may include a foreign language component, but are otherwise conducted in English. Undergraduates can apply for financial aid or loans to cover costs of either program, and participation may allow students to graduate earlier than expected. Study Abroad Programs or International Exchanges may span an academic year, a single semester, summer session, or winter session. The experience and memories, however, last a lifetime. |
