Program Description: The University of Messina, set in
the heart of the culturally-rich Mediterranean region, is one of the most important
and prestigious universities in southern Italy. As part of this direct enrollment
program, students participate in classes along with the University of Messina student
body. Students select from a wide variety of courses in various disciplines, including
economics, engineering, humanities, law, pharmacology, political science, and social
sciences. A member of Erasmus program of the EU, the University of Messina is a
top European University with a location in the port city of Messina. This allows
attending students to partake in Italian life at the same time as studying and traveling
throughout Europe.

Program Description: Florence University of the Arts is an Italian institution of higher education situated in the historic center of Florence. Modeled on the liberal arts curricular tradition, FUA offers a wide variety of courses in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences and natural sciences. FUA has a highly qualified and dedicated international faculty, a large proportion of which is of Italian nationality.
Participants will take a minimum of 12 credits, 6 of which will be an intensive Italian course. Students who have NOT had previous experience with Italian will take an introductory course. Students who have studied Italian at their home university will take a placement exam to determine the appropriate level of instruction.
Service Learning
There will be an educational experience requiring students to participate in an organized service activity in the local community and a formal reflection on this activity

All participants are housed in apartments in the vicinity of campus and housing costs are included in the Program Fee. The FUA Housing Coordinator secures apartments located in the historic city center on behalf of participants. The apartments are each unique, but will include the following features:
