The Australian National University

ANU is both a teaching institution and a center for original research in the humanities, the natural, physical, & social sciences, and the creative arts. ANU is located in the heart of Canberra, a beautifully planned garden city surrounded by native bush land. Participants have the opportunity to enroll in regular university classes at ANU. Prior to departure, participants select three courses from those available to study abroad students at ANU. All instruction is by ANU faculty. Typically, fall semester runs from mid-July through early- December and spring from early-February through mid-July. Students who participate in the ANU Internship Program will meet ANU's academic requirements, taking 1/3 of the program in ANU coursework and 2/3 in an internship placement. The ANU Internship program runs during the summer also, mid-May through July. Placements can be in 17 Parliament, the Australian Public Service, the Australian Capital Territory Assembly or Service, or with a wide range of non-governmental and community organizations.
