One of the key missions of STEM Smart is to provide well-qualified scientists, technicians, and researchers for industry. A number of businesses have already provided invaluable assistance to STEM Smart.
Business partners help STEM Smart achieve its mission in a number of ways:
offer summer internships for undergraduate students
provide speakers for our meetings, or provide tours of their companies
provide mentors (Mentors could be e-mentors -- online mentors)
help to support our conferences and other events
participate in job fairs and other career-related events
offer scholarships to students
provide career opportunities for graduating students (students with bachelor's, master's or Ph.Ds)
Getting involved in STEM Smart is an excellent way to participate in short-term business/education collaborative efforts to create corporate pride and good community relations.
And the long-term benefit to business, of course, is being able to hire the best-trained employees.
