Our SHRM Learning System®-based program is offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Subject matter experts have designed the curriculum to address the most current HRCI Body of Knowledge and to incorporate application exercises that develop specific competencies and decision-making skills. As a certification preparation program, it consistently exceeds the national pass rate.

With our blended (in-person and online) approach, you’ll learn from printed workbooks, software and online tools and have a dynamic classroom experience. Everyone may take the PHR®/SPHR® preparation course, but to qualify to take the PHR®/SPHR® exam, a candidate must meet the eligibility requirements established by the Society for Human Resource Management:
- One year of demonstrated professional HR experience with a master's degree or higher
- Two years of demonstrated professional HR experience with a bachelor's degree
- Four years of demonstrated professional HR experience with less than a bachelor's degree
- 4 years of demonstrated professional HR experience with a master's degree or higher
- 5 years of demonstrated professional HR experience with a bachelor's degree
- 7 years of demonstrated professional HR experience with less than a bachelor's degree

There’s never been a better time to pursue your PHR® or SPHR® designation. The next testing window is May 1, 2014 – June 30, 2014. Those looking to register for the exam must go to http://www.hrci.org. (Exam registration fee not included in course preparation tuition.)
Once you pass the certification exams, you must recertify your credentials every three years through continuing education activities. For more specific information and the number of recertification credits needed please visit: http://www.hrci.org/why_recertify/
These preparation courses will cover the following 6 modules:
Module 1: Business Management and Strategy
Module 2: Workforce Planning and Employment
Module 3: Human Resource Development
Module 4: Compensation and Benefits
Module 5: Employee and Labor Relations
Module 6: Risk Management
Both courses cover the same material, but one is offered in a standard format and the other is offered in an accelerated format.
Our test prep courses are offered two times a year to coincide with the HRCI national test windows. Dates and times are listed below. The cost of course materials and sample test are included with the tuition. On the last day of the course, the sample PHR®/SPHR® examination will be administered.
Accelerated Course Preparations
NCE 900 • 21 hours • Fee: $899*
This is a 21-hour accelerated PHR®/SPHR® preparation course that will earn each passing student 2.1 CEUs.

Standard Course Preparations — New Weekend Format!
NCE 901 • 36 hours • Fee: $1199*
We are pleased to announce a new weekend format for our 36-hour PHR®/SPHR® preparation course. Students who pass this course will earn 3.6 CEUs.
Section A: Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00am - 4:00pm (with an hour break).
April 12-13, April 26-27, and May 3-4, 2014
* Current SHRM members and SBU students are eligible to receive a 5% discount
Students who successfully complete the preparation course will receive a certificate of completion from SHRM and Stony Brook University. Successful completion is dependent upon students attending 75% of course hours.
