Online Learning Orientation Webinar

Summer 2012

Join SPD Online for an interactive webinar as we discuss what it takes to succeed as an online student. The one-hour webinar will be offered on three different dates and times:

  • Wednesday, May 23 at 6:00pm
  • Friday, May 25 at 2:00pm
  • Tuesday, May 29 at 7:00pm

Topics will include:

  • How online learning is different from classroom learning
  • How to navigate Blackboard
  • How to participate in class discussions
  • How to submit assignments
  • How to communicate with your instructor

How It Works

The webinar will take place via SB Connect, Stony Brook University's web conferencing platform. You will need access to a computer with the Adobe Flash plug-in installed, headphones or speakers, and a hard-wired internet connection. Full Details on Accessing the Webinar »

Kristy arnoldKristy Arnold, Instructional Support Associate, SPD Online. Kristy joined SPD Online in 2008 and is SPD's resident Blackboard expert. She is also an online student, currently pursuing the Master of Professional Studies in Human Resource Management.

Kim GiacaloneKim Giacalone, Director of Graduate Student Success, School of Professional Development. Kim has worked with online learners at the School of Professional Development since 1999. Kim took several online and hybrid courses while earning her MA/LS degree and the Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Computing.
