Online Learning Orientation Webinar
Join SPD Online for an interactive webinar as we discuss what it takes to succeed as an online student. The one-hour webinar will be offered on two different dates and times:

- Thursday, January 23 at 4:00 PM Eastern
Topics will include:
- How online learning is different from classroom learning
- How to navigate Blackboard
- How to participate in class discussions

How It Works
The webinar will take place via SB Connect, Stony Brook University's web conferencing platform. You will need access to a computer with the Adobe Flash plug-in installed, headphones or speakers, and a hard-wired internet connection. Full Details on Accessing the Webinar »
Kristy Arnold, Instructional Support Associate, SPD Online. Kristy joined SPD Online in 2008 and is SPD's resident Blackboard expert. She has also been an online student, earning her Master of Science in Human Resource Management in 2011.
Kim Giacalone, Director, Office of Student Success. Kim has worked to support online learners at the School of Professional Development since 1999. She has earned a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Computing from Stony Brook University. She has taken several asynchronous online and hybrid courses, as well as managing a synchronous course for Dean Edelson. A lifelong learner, Kim is currently continuing her graduate studies by taking management courses while she contemplates doctoral programs.
