The School of Professional Development (SPD) offers a number of degrees and certification programs in a fully online format. SPD has been a leader in online graduate learning since 1996. Our fully online, asynchronous programs have made it possible for hundreds of working professionals to earn their degrees. SPD Online was established to assist and students and faculty with the online learning format whether it be in the form of online (asynchronous/synchronous courses), hybrid/blended courses, or technology enhanced face-to-face courses. The courses offered in a fully online format as a part of our programs utilized the University’s learning management system, Blackboard. Instructors may choose to utilize other technologies as a part of the learning experience for online in order to further expand your skill set and knowledge of the online environment.
The online programs and courses delivered in the Blackboard as a part of the SPD program offerings are conducted via the online environment and mostly in an asynchronous format. Asynchronous means that you can log in at different times and from different places for each week of the course in order to participate in discussion forums, complete assignments and interact with your colleagues and instructor.
