Cohort II Schedule

All courses in Cohort Two take place on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. according to the schedule listed below:

HEA 501 - Foundations of Higher Education Administration:  September 6, 13, 20, 27; October 4, 11
HEA 502 - College Student Development Theory:  October 25; November 1, 8, 15, 22; December 6

SPRING 2015
HEA 503 - Leadership in Higher Education:  January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7
HEA 521 - Diversity & Higher Education -- February 21, 28; March 14, 21, 28; April 4
HEA 504 - Research and Assessment in Higher Education:  April 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16

SUMMER 2015
HEA 595 - Project Seminar:  May 30 (face-to-face, on the campus of Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY); May 31-July 31 (online via 1:1 telephone and email)

FALL 2015
HEA 520 - Advising & Counseling in Higher Education:  September 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17
HEA 523 - Student Affairs Administration:  October 31November 7, 14, 21; December 5, 12

SPRING 2016
HEA 526 - Career Counseling & The Psychology of Work:  January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; February 6
HEA 586 - Practicum in Higher Education or HEA elective

The four HEA elective courses in fall 2015 and spring 2016 will be face-to-face and selected based upon student interest and instructor availability.  Students may request to substitute one or more HEA face-to-face courses with a 10-week online option during the fall 2015 or spring 2016 semesters; decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.

Important Notes
Students are required to attend EVERY class.  Absences are not permitted, so it is important that applicants are able to attend every Saturday class as detailed above. Some instructors may utilize a hybrid approach with a mix of face-to-face and online teaching.  The University utilizes Blackboard as its portal for online coursework, including accessing course materials, posting in a discussion board forum, and submitting assignments.

Orientation & Registration
All admitted students will register for HEA 501 & 502 for fall 2014; HEA 503, 523, & 504 for spring 2015; HEA 595 for summer; and two HEA electives (TBA) each in fall 2015 and spring 2016.  Students will participate in a required orientation to meet each other and the HEA faculty, and learn more about the HEA program.
