Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration Information for Current Stony Brook Graduate Students If you are currently matriculated in a Stony Brook graduate degree program, you may apply for a change of program without re-applying to the University. To be eligible to matriculate in the MA in Higher Education Administration, you must be in good academic standing (with a minimum GPA of 3.0), and you must submit the following to SPD: 1. Personal Statement. Write a personal statement of approximately 750 words that addresses why you are interested in pursuing this degree. Include information about your preparation for this field of study, including your higher education professional work experience. Describe your research and study interests, career goals, and other aspects of your background, skills, and interests which will aid the admissions committee in evaluating your motivation for graduate study. 2. Resume. Attach a resume that includes degree(s) awarded, employment history, and past/current leadership, volunteer, or other relevant involvement and experience. 3. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation. Recommendation letters should be written by individuals who can speak about your academic ability, commitment to the higher education field, and attributes and experiences that will make you a successful student in this program. Recommendations from current or former employers and/or faculty members are strongly encouraged. 4. Online Orientation. If you are not in one of the School of Professional Development's degree programs, you must also complete an online orientation and submit an online orientation checklist.
