A Welcome from the Dean

Dear New SPD Student:

The School of Professional Development, or SPD for short, specializes in promoting adult career development through continuing higher education. We offer over thirty graduate, certificate, and not-for-credit programs that may be taken either part-time or full-time. These include the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, the Master of Arts in Teaching, and the Master of Professional Studies. The concentrations and majors in these and other programs are too numerous to list, and can be easily located on this publication or on our website (www.stonybrook.edu/spd).

We are the largest provider of professional education certification for school administrators in New York State. Each year over 10,000 students take our courses—either on campus, at off-campus centers, during the summer, on weekends, or online through our nationally recognized SPD Online program. Join our SPD-Stony Brook University family this semester and make progress towards achieving your educational and career goals.
