Stony Brook University Driver Rehabilitation Program

New York State Drinking Driver Program

The School of Professional Development administers the Suffolk County Driver Rehabilitation Program, also known as the Drinking Driver Program (DDP). Our DDP program is the largest program in New York State and covers all areas of Suffolk County.

If you are convicted of an alcohol or drug-related driving violation, your license or privilege to drive in New York State will be revoked or suspended. You may be eligible for a conditional license or a conditional driving privilege upon enrollment in the DRP through your local Department of Motor Vehicles. Under New York State Law, an individual convicted of driving while one’s ability is impaired by alcohol or drugs results in a mandatory license suspension, and violators must participate in the DRP (DDP) as part of their conviction.

The Drinking Driver Program comprises 7 sessions, with a total of 16 hours of classroom education, a screening, and evaluation and/or further treatment (if necessary).
