SOLAR
System and the SPD Website
The two most valuable resources that any SPD student can use are the
SOLAR System and the SPD website.
SOLAR stands for Student On-Line Access to Records, a web-based information
and enrollment system that allows you to track and control many aspects
of your graduate career. With SOLAR, you can
- Search for courses and descriptions by semester
- Enroll in classes
- Add, drop, "swap" or waitlist for some classes
- View your academic record
- View your financial aid and billing information
- Update your personal information
- Receive important messages and alerts about enrollment, billing,
etc.
To log-in to SOLAR, you will need your Stony Brook ID, which will be
sent to you shortly. We have provided an overview
for using SOLAR on the SPD website.
E-mail Notification about Messages and Alerts on your account:
To receive e-mail notification that you have messages or alerts waiting
for you on your account, it is important that your e-mail address is
kept accurate and up-to-date. Check your SOLAR System Welcome Page frequently
for messages, such as holds on enrollment transactions, permission to
enroll, financial aid requirements, etc. Instructions about what you
need to do and whom you must contact will be displayed. Holds must be
resolved before enrolling.
SPD Website
The SPD website has program descriptions, course listings, necessary
forms, SOLAR information and other news and notes that you need
to
know. The website is updated frequently, so you should get into the
habit of checking the front page for important updates. The address
is http://www.stonybrook.edu/spd
