Semester by the Sea: Southampton Arts
Location
The seaside campus of Stony Brook Southampton is located in the heart of the Hamptons, a renowned resort area only 80 miles from New York City.
The Hamptons have long been a destination for writers, artists, filmmakers and actors. Tennessee Williams, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sigourney Weaver, Jackson Pollack, Gwyneth Paltrow, Steven Spielberg, Betty Freidan, Andy Warhol, Dustin Hoffman and Kurt Vonnegut all spent time here. Some still do.
The unique campus location on the shores of Shinnecock Bay also allows for direct access to estuaries, bays, and the Atlantic Ocean.
