Semester by the Sea: Southampton Arts
Immerse yourself in creative writing while earning 15 college credits.
Imagine a semester abroad, but with the artistic purpose of writing a collection of poems or short stories. Come to Stony Brook Southampton's Semester by the Sea and take five creative writing courses all at once.
It's an arts colony for undergraduates, located in the gorgeous Hamptons, a resort community on the East End of Long Island. If you have a strong interest in the arts, but not the opportunity, time or flexibility in your schedule to act on it, then taking off for a Semester by the Sea could be just the ticket.
At the Semester by the Sea, you will take a 15-credit load of five courses including creative writing and literature courses. In workshop, you'll work closely with top-notch faculty in small groups of 16.
Throughout, you'll get individualized attention to your creative needs, with plenty of mentorship to guide you. The literature courses supplement and inspire your creative work, and all of the courses could help you fulfill General Education requirements at your home institution.
