Stony Brook University Time Capsule

Commemorating 50 Years of Advancing Research, Creativity, and Knowledge.
In the past 50 years, Stony Brook has given much to our local community. We have also made many important and lasting gifts to the global community-gifts of musical and literary compositions, scientific and medical discoveries, scholarly breakthroughs, and intellectual innovations. We are asking the University community to recommend one of the many recent contributions we have made for inclusion in our Time Capsule, to be opened 50 years from now.

Submissions should be contributions we are making today that you think will have a large impact on life during the next 50 years. When the Stony Brook community opens the capsule five decades hence, they will see the energy, creativity, and foresight of our generation.

Submit a description of your recommendation to: The Time Capsule Commemorating 50 Years of Advancing Research, Creativity, and Knowledge. Deadline for submission: Friday, July 20, 2007.

Descriptions should be 50 words or fewer and can be submitted via e-mail to yearofcontest@stonybrook.edu. A committee will be reviewing submissions in July. Qualified entries will be selected by the end of July and entrants will be notified shortly thereafter in preparation for the Time Capsule Installation Ceremony in the fall.
