What Is the Year of Community: Ethics in Leadership?
The Campus Community Initiative began three years ago with the Year of Community. During subsequent years, the University has continued to promote the ideals expressed in the 1999-2000 Year of Community Statement.
This campus-wide tradition continued in 2000-01 with the Year of Community Service, which led to more involvement in volunteerism and outreach efforts. Last year's theme, Community Leadership, promoted the recognition of unsung individuals and groups that have helped to shape our community and our world.
President Shirley Strum Kenny announced recently that 2002-03 is the Year of Community: Ethics in Leadership. Throughout the year, symposia, lectures, and other events will address the ethical challenges that confront us, perhaps more urgently now than ever before.
As the year progresses, return to this site frequently for information, updates, and schedules.
