2003 Asian American Film Series
Situating Asian America

March 27 - May 1, 2003
Charles B. Wang Center Theater
Stony Brook University
All viewings start at 7:00 p.m.

Stony Brook University's Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library presents its first-ever Asian American Film Series at the new Charles B. Wang Center.

Beginning with the March 27 opening event and film, The Color of Honor, the film series will feature award-winning films and special guests, including filmmaker Loni Ding, who recently received an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Stony Brook University.

The program will feature a provocative line-up of documentary, feature, independent, and Hollywood films that tackle issues such as Japanese American soldiers and draft resisters during World War II, South Asian American beauty pageants, black/Korean relations in urban centers, Asian American rappers, experiences of adopted Asian children with Caucasian parents, and the reestablishment of familial and cultural connections after devastating war, such as the Vietnam War, among others.

All screenings begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Charles B. Wang Center Theater at SBU. Admission is free. Seating is limited.
