Recycling Policy

Sustain It

RECYCLING HOTLINE: (631) 632-1514

DISPOSE OF TRASH PROPERLY
Place non-recyclable trash into black plastic bags inside the tan bin, tie tightly, and place in the dumpster located outside nearest your building.  Please be mindful not to allow the bags to leak liquids during transport as this can create more work for the maintenance staff and increase overall costs to you (i.e. dirty carpets, floors, etc).  A clean campus is a GREEN and SUSTAINABLE campus.

RECYCLE BOTTLES AND CANS
Remove tops, rinse, flatten, place recyclable #1 and #2 plastic bottles, container glass (green, clear, brown), aluminum cans, and bi-metal cans into a clear plastic bag inside the blue bin w/ green top.  Remove to outside receptacle.  DO NOT MIX trash with the bottles and cans.

RECYCLE MIXED PAPER
Keep clean and dry. No food or liquids or other garbage residues on the paper. Place the mixed paper into a clear plastic bag inside the blue bin w/ blue top. Remove to outside receptacle. DO NOT MIX trash with mixed paper.

YES:  Computer paper, paper bags, cardboard, envelopes, fax paper, gift cards, index cards, magazines, newspapers, notebook pages, posters, and pamphlets may be recycled.

DON’T THROW OUT REUSABLE CLOTHING
Place clothing and shoes, sneakers, etc inside the white Goodwill container located outside by the power plant.  Torn shirts and clothing are acceptable as they may be made into clothe remnants, or into high grade writing paper.
