A Message from the President

Welcome to Stony Brook Southampton and the start of a grand adventure. I am delighted to have you aboard as members of the trailblazing class. Yours is a class comprising students committed to making a difference. I am so pleased you have chosen to bring your talent and enthusiasm to our campus.

Environment and sustainability are critical issues for the 21st century. During the time you are learning and working here, your professors will become colleagues, and many of your fellow students will become lifelong friends. Your classes will be intimate, whether they take place in a traditional classroom, in the waterways surrounding the campus, or in a rainforest halfway around the world. The beauty of Stony Brook Southampton is in the countless opportunities you will have for sharing new-found knowledge in small-group settings.

You will also have fun while you are here; there will be many ways to spend time beyond your studies. You will be one of the students who create traditions and establish our standards of excellence. As we move forward, I very much hope to see your personal imprint on the life and culture of this new and exciting college.
