Southampton Mentor Program

Dear Students,

I would like to personally invite you to join the Southampton Mentor Program, an opportunity to become more acquainted with the Stony Brook Southampton community and to enrich your studies.

Take a moment and review the expectations of the program. We provide mentoring activities, group discussions, and one on one meeting with peers, staff, faculty, community leaders, and alumni.

This is an organized activity based on active participation, so your commitment to meeting with mentors for an hour a week is essential. We know your time is precious; however, this connection with faculty will be critical to your academic and social success.

The Southampton Mentor Program (SMP) aims to:
Build positive relationships.
Cultivate learning and knowledge.
Create extraordinary opportunities for student success.

Mentees’ responsibilities:

  • Attend one hour sessions with your mentor.
  • Actively participate to gain the benefits of collaboration, community, and commitment.
  • Network with faculty
  • Learn about research opportunities
  • Be an active participant in making a difference in the campus sustainable mission by working with faculty on campus projects and programs.

I welcome your participation. Please stop by the Dean of Students Office in Chancellors Hall Room 205, email Anamaria.Cobodepaci@stonybrook.edu or call (631) 632-5134.
