Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial Aid Information

The Office of Student Financial Aid Services provides assistance to undergraduates in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study to assist eligible students in pursuing their academic goals. To apply for financial aid, students must complete the federal government's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is used by Stony Brook Southampton to determine each student's expected family contribution and financial aid eligibility. Stony Brook Southampton's FAFSA Code is 002838, the same code number as Stony Brook University.

New York State residents* are also encouraged to apply for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). If you file a FAFSA electronically and indicate that you are a New York State resident, you will be able to link to your online TAP application at the end of the FAFSA session. If you filed a paper FAFSA, you can apply for TAP directly on the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) TAP Application Website.

*Note: If your principal or permanent home has not been in New York State for a 12-month period immediately prior to the date you intend to enroll, you will be considered an out-of-state resident for tuition purposes. If you are not a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or do not have refugee status in the U.S., then you are considered an international student.
