Here's some helpful information on how to get connected at Stony Brook Southampton:
SOLAR NetID MY SBMAIL ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE
For more information, please visit the Stony Brook University Division of Information Technology Web site.
SOLAR stands for Student Online Access to Records. This is where you:
When you first login to SOLAR, enter your Stony Brook Southampton ID number (which may be found on your student ID card) and your password, which is initially set as your birth date in MMDDYY format.
Your NetID is used for accessing Blackboard, Resnet and your MySBfiles, a 500MB network file storage and web space for students, faculty and staff. NetID is also used to log into SINC site services and library databases, and is used for wireless access.
Your NetID password expires every six months, so it must be reset. To find your NetID password, login to SOLAR and click 'NetID Maintenance,' located under 'Security and Personal Data.'
All registered, active students at Stony Brook University have a MySBmail e-mail account.
Students log into MySBmail at http://mysbmail.stonybrook.edu using their NetID and NetID password. The Teaching, Learning + Technology department can assist students with questions about their MySBmail account. For more information, please visit:

Students are encouraged to install Symantec Antivirus on their machines. You can download Symantec at no cost from Stony Brook’s software distribution site.
