Academic Advising: 632-5068
The Academic Advising Office is located at Natural Science 115 and will help with your schedule, registration issues and course requirements. Contact Susan Ulrich, Associate Director of the Academic, Career and Internship Office. Hours of operation: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., evenings as needed.

Academic Judiciary: 632-5028
The Academic Judiciary (AJC) Office deals with accusations of dishonesty and grievances.

Add/Drop Period (Change of Course)
Period of time during the semester when students may add or drop courses. (See the academic calendar for details.)

Admissions: 632-5035
The undergraduate admissions office is located at 102 Chancellors Hall. Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

ATM locations
The ATM is located in the west lobby of the Student Center, open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Avram Theater & Gallery: 632-5023
The Avram Theater is a 469-seat theater with a thrust proscenium stage and is one of the largest theaters on the east end of Long Island. It is located in the Fine Arts Building.

Bicycles: 632-5005
Bicycles can be signed out at the Wellness Center. All bicycles must be registered and students must follow the University's guidelines and rules for safe bicycling.

Bookstore
The bookstore is located in the Student Center. Bookstore hours of operation:

Monday - Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday - Closed
Sunday 3 to 6 p.m.

Blackboard: 632-9602
Blackboard is a Web-based course management system that many instructors use to post course information for students. All registered students have access to Blackboard.

Bus Service

Campus Card (ID): 632-5068
The Student Services Office is located in Room 104 of the Student Center Building and is the location of the Campus Card Office. University Policy requires that all members of the campus community must carry an ID card. The first card is free; there is a fee for replacing a lost card.

In addition to identifying members of the campus community, the ID card can be used for students for payments for various services:

  • Tax Exempt Student Meal Plans – 'Meals' and 'Flex Credits'
  • Vending and Laundry Machines – 'Campus Cash'
  • Textbooks and other School Supplies – 'Campus Bookstore Account

Any of the above tenders, with the exception of 'Meals' may also be used at the Stony Brook Campus.

Campus Life Time
A 90-minute period on Wednesdays from 12:40 p.m. to 2:10 p.m. when very few classes are scheduled, allowing most students, faculty, and staff opportunities to participate in campus programs and activities.

Center for Wine, Food & Culture: 632-9404
The Stony Brook University Center for Wine, Food, and Culture was founded in 2004 for the purpose of bringing together people and ideas that convey and sustain cultural connections to food and wine. The Center strives to support the economic and cultural viability of regional wine and food producers through dynamic and relevant educational activities that are open to industry professionals and the general public. Center MarketPlace: 632-5125
The Center MarketPlace is located in the Student Center and carries school supplies, campus living supplies, books, snacks and Stony Brook Southampton merchandise.

Client Support provides support for computer and networking issues.

Clubs & Organizations: 632-5132
Several student clubs are available on campus and students are invited to start their own clubs as well. For more information, contact Diane Redo, Coordinator of Student Life and Recreation.

Commuter Student Services: 632-5093

Computer Lab
The SINC computer lab is located in Chancellors Hall, Room 149. Hours are Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Computer Purchases
Students may purchase Apple and Dell computers online through Stony Brook University client support. Students can also get a copy of Symantec Antivirus and Office 2003 at the Center MarketPlace campus store, included as part of the Technology Fee they pay. Counseling Center: 632-5069
The Counseling Center provides consultation, crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, group and couples therapy, and psychiatric services for registered students. Office hours are by appointment. Students should call Virginia St. John at (631) 632-5069. For emergencies, call (631) 371-6237.

The Dean of Students plays a vital role in maintaining and enriching campus community. The Office of the Dean offers leadership for co-curricular programs and activities, plans initiatives to improve student life, facilitates student achievement, and welcomes and orients new students. Environmental Health and Safety promotes safety and environmental stewardship through the development and implementation of a variety of environmental, health and safety programs.

Facilities: 632-5049
The facilities office will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and all requests for services should come from Residence Life via the Fixit web site. Dorm cleaning will be Mondays at 10 a.m. in Southold Hall and 11 a.m. in Amagansett Hall. If Monday is a holiday, cleaning will be performed on Tuesday. For emergencies or if you're calling after 5 p.m., call 632-5039.

Finance, Board of
The Board of Finance ensures that students at Stony Brook Southampton would have the opportunity to create the campus life they are looking for. All approved clubs and organizations and any student interested in programming for the students of Southampton can stop by to ask questions during the Board of Finance's office hours in the Tree House Lounge Conference Room.

Financial Aid: 632-6840
The Office of Financial Aid is responsible for processing and disbursement of your federal, state and institutional financial aid.  No appointment necessary. The office is located at the Stony Brook Campus in the Administration building. For more information, click here.

Health Insurance Office: 632-6377

The office assists all students and visiting scholars with health insurance information, enrollments, and claims problems. For more information, click here.

Student Health Services: 632-5014
The Student Health Center is located in the lower level of Southold Residence Hall. A Nurse Practitioner will be available to the Southampton students from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no charge for the visits as they are included in the Health Fee paid as part of the University fees. Contact: Dr. Linda Hamilton.

Marine Station: 632-5020
The Marine Sciences Field Station offers classrooms, research vessels, and a fleet of boats of varying sizes to students and faculty for research and recreation. Operators must be pre-qualified. Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact: C. Richard 'Dick' McIntyre.

Media Relations: 632-5088
The Office of Media Relations is responsible for developing media strategies for the campus and promoting the academic achievements of its faculty, researchers, and students, as well as news on the creation of academic programs and construction projects. The office also publicizes artistic performances, academic lectures, events and programs on campus that are open to the public. The Student Center is located on Peconic Hill Road in the middle of campus and contains the Student Center Café, the Center MarketPlace (bookstore), the Campus Card ID office, the Wellness Center, the Tree House Lounge, an ATM and more. Telecommunications (TelNeT)
TeLNeT, a division of the Department of Information Technology, provides telecommunication services and networking services. TeLNeT is responsible for your dialtone, your network connection and your cable TV services. We have equipped your room with a Colby phone, data cable for your computer and a coax cable for your television. If you prefer a phone with caller id or need to replace the line/handset cord, you may purchase any of these items at a local store. Train service
Take the Long Island Railroad's Montauk Branch from Jamaica Station in New York City to Southampton. (Service from Manhattan's Penn Station to Jamaica runs frequently.) The campus is a short taxi ride from the station. Here is the schedule for Southampton.

The Town of Southampton is also offering coordinated rail and bus service during peak commuting hours from October 23, 2007 through May 22, 2008. Visit the South Fork Commuter Connection web site for more information.
