A transformational $150 million gift to the University from Jim and Marilyn Simons and the Simons Foundation marks a milestone moment in the history of our young institution—one that we all have reason to celebrate. Between October 1, 2011 and December 6, 2012, Stony Brook University secured more than $50 million in gifts and documented pledges that meet the established standards and guidelines of the Simons Foundation Matching Challenge Grant. To have completed the Challenge in just over one year is a wonderful testament to the University.
