Contest Rules
Contest opens October 5 and closes November 15, 2009. To enter, you must be currently affiliated with Stony Brook University as a student, faculty member, or employee.* Winning videos will be judged by a panel of students, faculty, and other members of the Stony Brook community.
Stony Brook University reserves the right to edit any and all submitted videos and use videos in future promotional material, with appropriate production credit. All entries will be screened by Stony Brook University before they are posted. Stony Brook University reserves the right to remove any posted videos at any time. By submitting video via the link below, you are agreeing to the stated contest rules.
Videos will be posted on YouTube. All YouTube rules and restrictions on posting videos also apply, including which file types can be uploaded. Videos should be no shorter than 30 seconds and no longer than one minute in length.
More than one entry per student is not allowed. If a winning video is made by multiple people, the prize money will split between authors.
Content of each project is at the discretion of participants, but should reflect positively on Stony Brook University. Judges reserve the right to disqualify any projects that do not do so. The video must be of your own creation, and may not include any copyrighted material or any other proprietary or intellectual property not owned by you
Submit your video between October 5, 2009 and November 15, 2009 to our YouTube group: www.youtube.com/group/sbcontest2. You will need to create a YouTube account and join the group.
A note from YouTube on Uploading video:
"YouTube accepts a wide range of video file formats.The video files below are all accepted by YouTube. Some video formats work best and are most compatible with certain computers, software or devices.
- Windows Media Video (.WMV)
- .3GP (cell phones)
- .AVI (windows)
- .MOV (mac)
- .MP4 (ipod/psp)
- .MPEG .FLV (adobe flash)
- .MKV (h.264)
If you do not think your current video file format is recognized by YouTube, you may get the best uploading results from converting your file to MPEG4 video with MP3 audio."
Once you have uploaded your completed video to YouTube.com, send an e-mail with the subject line "Contest Entry" to Jacob.Levich@stonybrook.edu and include the following information:
- Name
- E-mail address
- University affiliation
- Phone number
- URL of your video as it appears on YouTube
* Employees in the Office of Communications and Office of Undergraduate Admissions may submit videos, but are not eligible for prize money.
