Mr. Dylan Selterman
Dylan Selterman is the President of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) at Stony Brook University. He was born in New York City and his family now lives in Westchester. He attended Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua and was an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University, where he studied psychology and creative writing. As a senior, he was elected President of Psi Chi (The National Honors Society in Psychology), Johns Hopkins chapter, and won the G. Stanley Hall Award for best psychology research by an undergraduate student.
Dylan is now in his fourth year as a graduate student at Stony Brook University,where he is a Ph.D. candidate in the Psychology Department. He studies social and developmental psychology, with a research focus on attachment and close relationships. He is also an instructor, and has taught Social Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, and Statistics in Psychology.
During his second year at Stony Brook, Dylan became an active member of GSO as a senator for the Psychology Department. He was elected Vice President for the 2008-2009 year, serving on a variety of campus committees including the Student Life Committee, the University Environment Committee, and the University Senate. He now serves as GSO President, and he is also a member of the University Senate Executive Committee. Dylan is devoted both to his academic pursuits and to university/community service. He expects to finish his doctorate in the next two years, with the aim of making a career as a psychology researcher and professor.
