Catherine Salussolia
Catherine SalussoliaCatherine Salussolia is a native of Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Swarthmore College in 2004 and a Master of Science in Neuropharmacology and Neuroscience from Albany Medical College in 2006. Currently, Catherine is enrolled in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD) at Stony Brook University and is pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience. 

Catherine has been active in the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) for the past three years serving on many University and GSO committees including the University Senate, a Board Member of Stony Brook Child Care, and the GSO Budget Committee. Catherine currently serves as the Speaker of the GSO Senate and the Chair of the GSO Rules and Constitution Committee. 

Academically, Catherine is interested in pursuing a residency in Pediatric Neurology specializing in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. As a future physician-scientist, Catherine is interested in defining the mechanisms underlying deficits in learning and memory, as well as autism spectrum disorders. She was named a Neuroscience Scholars Fellow by the Society for Neuroscience and has received a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service (NRSA) Predoctoral Fellowship for her thesis research in Dr. Lonnie Wollmuth’s laboratory. Catherine was selected to present her research on the biogenesis of glutamate receptors in the 2011-2012 Provost’s Graduate Student Lecture Series.
