Lou Howard is Professor Emeritus and retired Chairman of the Aerospace Technology Department, SUNY College of Technology at Farmingdale. He was formerly a member of the New York State Assembly and Presiding Officer and member of the Suffolk County Legislature. He was also Mayor of the Village of Amityville, a teacher at Amityville High School, and its head football coach, coaching nine straight championship teams. He was, as well, publisher and owner of The Amityville Record and The Suffolk County News.
Mr. Howard was appointed to the SUNY Board of Trustees in 1997 and has served as a member for six years. He received a B.S. from Springfield College, a Master's degree from New York University, and a C.A.S. from Hofstra University. He served four years in the U.S. Army Air Force and holds numerous advanced flying ratings.
Lou Howard is the author of five books and numerous technical articles as well as a motivational speaker. His honors include being named to the L.I. Sports Hall of Fame and as one of the Town of Babylon's ten most influential people of the 20th century. Mr. Howard and his wife Margaret reside in Amityville and are the parents of seven children.
