Stony Brook University Prospective Students

YOUR FRESHMAN YEAR
Each of our six residential quads is home to an Undergraduate College, organized around students’ interests. The academic themes of the Colleges include information and technology studies; the arts, culture, and humanities; global studies; science and society; leadership and service; and human development. With only 400 students in each College, Stony Brook offers you a friendly small-college environment within a major university.

All residence halls have state-of-the-art computing and fitness centers and provide high-speed networked access to the Internet from every room. Stony Brook offers a wide range of dining options including food courts, restaurants, American and international cuisines, and vegan, vegetarian, and Kosher dining.

While 80 percent of freshmen live on campus, commuter students enjoy the same connection to the Undergraduate Colleges through our new commuter-student study center.
