Re: Presidential Search
Dear Colleague:
I am pleased to announce that the Presidential Search Committee has been fully constituted and, in fact, held its first meeting this past Tuesday. Please find a listing of all the members at http://www.stonybrook.edu/doit/search-committee.pdf, and a brief bio of each member at http://www.stonybrook.edu/doit/search-committee-bios.pdf. The search for our next president will involve much time and effort, and each member deserves our deep appreciation for taking on this important task.
I am also pleased to report that the committee endorsed the retention of the nationally renowned search firm, Russell Reynolds Associates, to assist it in its search. Russell Reynolds has a depth of experience in university searches, particularly those at the presidential level. The firm has a particular expertise in AAU schools, and is in the process of completing the search for the presidency of Johns Hopkins University. Moreover, Russell Reynolds has a deep understanding of Stony Brook University, having successfully completed the search for the Stony Brook Provost and the Director of the Simons Center.
The Committee continues to receive input from a cross-section of the University community, and will continue its outreach to ensure that all concerned campus stakeholders have input into the search process. Toward that end, a series of forums will be held for faculty, students, professional staff and other campus constituencies. You will hear more about these forums in the near future. In addition, the search committee will post a website which will post additional information related to the search.
Finally, I am pleased to announce that George Meyer and his assistant, Susan Hines, have agreed to act as campus staff liaison to the Presidential Search Committee. George and Susan will be handling all logistical elements involving the search.
Again, thank you for your continued interest in this important search.
Sincerely,
Richard T. Nasti '78, Chair, Presidential Search Committee
